A woman's journey of self-discovery.
Written by international bestselling Brazilian author Paulo Coelho, Adultery is the 16th major book in his collection and as the name suggests touches on the theme of adultery.
As a Paulo Coelho fan, I was excited to read this book and like previous novels it did not disappoint.
In this novel we meet lead character Linda who is lonely and bored with her life and daily routine, and is willing to risk it all to find passion.
The book raises the question of "is the grass greener on the other side"?
By this I mean, Linda is an established woman with money, a loving husband, family and a nice home, yet she is not happy with it.
Initially as a reader you might consider her selfish, maybe even ungrateful to not be happy with what she has, which is generally more
However this book isn't solely about extra-marital relations, it is more about a woman who gives the reader a very honest insight into her life and her path to self-discovery and self-acceptance.
As is common with Coelho novels there is a deeper meaning to his stories and it is important to understand this when picking up one of his novels, especially Adultery, as I do not think the name does it justice -- the book is about so much more than that.
