A valuable gift that costs you nothing.
IT'S not often you can provide a valuable gift for someone for nothing but when it comes to charity donations this is entirely possible.
I am talking of course about Gift Aid.
Gift Aid is a scheme provided by the government to help charities make the most of the donations given to them by donors who support with either cash or goods.
The scheme makes it possible for anyone who pays standard rate tax or above to sign up to the Gift Aid scheme.
Charities can then claim Gift Aid on any donation that person gives in cash or goods and this adds a full 25%, or more, to the value of the donation.
So every PS1 worth of donations is then worth PS1.25.
Gift Aid is an essential part of every charity's fundraising strategy.
It is a gift that costs the giver nothing but also a gift that is worth a great deal to the good cause receiving it.
At Butterwick Hospice, because we are a registered charity, we try to encourage everyone who supports us to sign up for Gift Aid either when making a donation, or when handing in goods in our shops, hospice receptions or warehouse or when making a donation or setting up a fundraising page on JustGiving or Virgin Money.
Being able to claim Gift Aid on donations can be the difference between charities being able to make ends meet and not.
There is no downside to this scheme and no catch. It is simply a scheme that allows supporters to give a generous extra gift that costs them nothing.
If you are not already a member, pop into any of our high street shops and ask about Gift Aid.
It is so easy and simple to sign up. If you have any other questions about the scheme give our fundraising office a call on 01642 628930 and remember this is a gift that costs you nothing!
