A time for (not) dancing.

Thank you so much for Jenifer Ringer's "Why I Dance" (Feb.). It is rare to hear about a dancer, especially one of her stature, who has taken time away from dance to be sure of her passion. The fact that she struggled with her weight, took a step away to refuel her drive, and rose to principal is so inspiring. Physically, emotionally, even financially, dance is such a hard profession and I often feel pressure to be completely certain of my choice. The fear of losing my technique makes it terrifying to take time off. It is so refreshing to hear that taking a break can mean returning to dance more passionate, wise, and lovely than ever.
