A sweet ending makes for a perfect meal.

We have to admit that we rarely consider any meal complete without something sweet to cap off the experience. Whether we're throwing together a quick weeknight supper, entertaining friends, or enjoying a romantic picnic, nothing compares to a homemade treat. It's even better when we're able to find that just-baked taste in a readymade dessert. The gourmet thaw and serve tarts from Daphne Baking Company, Kent, Conn., are a perfect example.

With a sweet butter crust and well-balanced filling, the tarts are as delicious to eat as they are impressive to serve. Made with quality, all-natural ingredients, your dinner companions will think you've been baking all day, when the reality is that your only effort was to take them out of the freezer. They also work well for summer outings; just pack them frozen--tarts will keep defrosted up to 10 hours--and they'll be ready when you are.

Daphne Tarts ($7.99) come packaged two to a box, in individual 3 1/2" servings. If you're so inclined, one tart really is enough to share, but that's solely up to you. Flavors include chocolate, lemon, macadamia nut, pumpkin, passion fruit, and chocolate raspberry. Though it's hard to top these choices, Daphne also offers Ready-to-Fill Sweet Tart Shells. Let your imagination run wild. Visit www.daphnebaking.com for more information.
