A stitch in time for Lady Godiva.

LADY GODIVA is finally wearing some underwear after having a charity basque returned to her.

Organisers of a fashion show in aid of Cancer Research UK had arranged with the city council to dress up Coventry's famous statue to promote the event.

The basque was only up for one day when citycentre workers mistook the promotion for a prank and removed it.

But yesterday a new basque was attached after city management firm CV One apologised for the error and paid for a replacement.

Emma O'Brien, who is organising the fashion show, said: "I'm really happy it's back. I'm glad because we did it to raise awareness of our charity event but it didn't get the chance it should have got.

"I'm happy with CV One.

They did hold their hands up and apologise and they've also let me put up a banner promoting the event and let me hand out flyers."

Basques for Breast Cancer is on August 16 in the Lock Gallery, Canal Basin. Tickets (pounds 10) from the gallery.
