A second change.

It was barely 4 p.m. on Nov. 3, 2011, and I was fuming after missing a doe at point-blank range. I climbed back into the stand after retrieving the ruined arrow and confirming the miss. It turned out to be the most fortunate miscue of my hunting career. I saw a flash of tall tines and my mind screamed "BIG DEER!" This 160-class 10-pointer was following the scent of the doe I had just missed, and I grunted him directly under my tree. My father's hand-me-down Mathews Z-Max put him down in his tracks.
