A proclamation: National Correctional Employees Week.
Whereas, correctional employees in the United States, and around the globe, are dedicated to the protection of the public, humane treatment of offenders and the safety of their colleagues, and[ILLUSTRATION OMITTED]
Whereas, women and men of courage, personal strength, skill and knowledge, are employed in various positions in the corrections profession, and
Whereas, correctional employees are employed at the national, state and local levels in probation and parole, community-based programs, jails and juvenile detention centers, and in adult and juvenile correctional facilities, and in privately managed programs and facilities, and
Whereas, correctional employees include individuals in the allied professions of health care, education, religion and architecture, and in numerous other disciplines, professions and trades, and
Whereas, the American Correctional Association wishes to extend its thanks and praise to all correctional employees in the United States and around the world for their tireless efforts and contributions to humankind,
Therefore, I, Charles J. Kehoe, president of ACA, proclaim the week of Aug. 10-16, 2003, as National Correctional Employees Week, and encourage correctional agencies in the United States and throughout the world to acknowledge the contributions made by all correctional employees.
