A new year, a new you.

January 2001 will officially mark the beginning of the new millennium and the dawning of a new era. With that in mind, our upcoming issue will prepare you financially and politically for a new year, a new economy, and a new president.

Also, look for the BLACK ENTERPRISE Board of Economists' report: Andrew Brimmer gives his annual economic outlook; Cecilia A. Conrad takes a peek at the future of technology; and Thomas D. Boston discusses entrepreneurship under a new government.

Every two years, we publish our Top 50 Colleges for African Americans report that, we hope, will help you match the finest institution to your paycheck and your child's career goals. As done previously, the extensive report will review the top 50 colleges based on tuition, notable academic programs, and student population. This year, BE offers an accompanying section, which outlines how to create a budget for a student's expenses, and a guide to the best scholarships, loans, and grants.

In line with our continuing coverage of the Black Wealth Initiative, we review the Declaration of Financial Empowerment (DOFE) principles and kick off a new financial fitness contest. We've also convinced a few performers and athletes, such as Jasmine Guy, to share their rock-solid portfolios with you. We are confident their investment strategies will guide you to become a star investor.

Many of our best story ideas come from you, the readers of BLACK ENTERPRISE.
