A new brass combination.

On the one hand the world's leading brass ensemble, on the other the most successful contesting band of the last decade.

The concert at Manchester's Bridgewater Hall on Wednesday, November 9, should be a cracker.

The band are YBS- the former Yorkshire Building Society Band conducted by David King. The ensemble are Canadian Brass, formed in Toronto in 1970 and widely credited with popularising the brass repertoire through a unique combination of virtuoso musicianship, masterful interpretations, theatrical effects and dialogue with the audience.

They will perform a mix of classical and baroque music, with a particular emphasis on the music of JS Bach.

Before the concert they will be giving a masterclass for students at the Royal Northern College of Music.

Tickets at pounds 10 to pounds 15 from the box office (0161-9079000) or online at www.bridgewater-hall.co.uk
