BRITONS are getting fatter, taking more drugs and popping a record number of anti-depressants.

A social trends study showed almost half of all British men and a third of women are overweight.

We use more recreational drugs than any other nation in Europe.

And 19 per cent of women and almost 14 per cent of men have a neurotic disorder.

The Office for National Statistics report also found Britain is the most expensive country in Europe after Sweden and Denmark.
