A gaming PC that's hard to beat; GADGETS.
TOSHIBA QOSMIO X870-11Q
Going some way to redefining the word 'laptop', this chunky 3D-boasting machine is one of the more capable off-the-shelf gaming PCs about right now.
As well as packing Intel Ivy Bridge chips, there's a tasty Nvidia GeForce GT670M graphics card and a whopping 16GB of onboard memory.
Measuring 418mm wide and 272mm deep and weighing a fairly hefty 3.4kg, much of X870's bulk comes with its massive 17.3-inch, which ultimately means it's not a machine that you'll want to lug about in a shoulder bag or rucksack.
Dotted around the edges you'll find four USB 3.0 ports, HDMI out, and a Blu-ray drive. Meanwhile a 1TB hard disk drive inside is doubled-up with a super fast 128GB solid state drive.
The 1,920 x 1,080 pixels screen is particularly good, looking at its best when n playing Blu-ray movies, and there's the added bonus of a set of active 3D glasses.
The styling will probably only appeal to teenage boys, but despite this and a fair few other gripes, if you have the readies available, few portable gaming PCs come close to what's on offer here.
