Dr. John Karr is associate professor of music history at California State University, Fresno. He was the principal compiler of the actual catalog of the Ricasoli Collection (Harmonie Park Press, 2012), and has also published a volume of psalms and motets from the collection. He is currently working on the third of a three-volume anthology of fifteenth-century Italian psalms for the Institute of Mediaeval Music.

(3.) This is the first of several manuscripts in this catalog "for use by me, Giuseppe Lapi," apparently from his library, and possibly copied for him. He appears also as a composer of some works in this catalog. Several other works are for his wife (?), Sig:ra Margherita Lapi.
