A casual showcase.
This market, targeted primarily to specialty casual-furniture retailers and full-line furniture stores nationwide, will feature the latest designs of more than 300 exhibiting manufacturers. Based on information received from show exhibitors at press time, buyers can expect to preview a broad array of new products in a variety of colors, fabrics, textures and styles designed to satisfy virtually every segment of this market. What follows is a representative sampling of some of the new items set to be introduced at the show, which will run from Sept. 18 to 22 at The Merchandise Mart in Chicago.
Brown Jordan, introducing its largest aluminum collection ever, presents five new collections as well as several additions to popular groups. The American - influenced Vermont collection adapts classic twig and hickory furniture in the tradition of rustic period styling. Made with a patent-applied-for technique, the distressed, whittled surface adds unique texture and color. The seat and back interpret the original cross strap in textured vinyl and are hand woven in tone on tone or contrasting colors.
Two new resin collections and six new tables highlight the product introductions for Grosfillex. Among Grosfillex's new tables are three upscale styles--Victoria Decor, Bahia Decor and Modulis--utilizing film technology to create unique tabletop designs. To create the tabletops, film is placed in the mold and is melted into the surface of table. Victoria Decor, available in either hunter green or white, has a marbleized look with no border, while the sage green, marbleized Bahia Decor table features a tile-like decorative border. The Modulis collection offers an antique gold filmtop border on a forest green table.
This 25-year-old North Carolina company introduces Del Sol Hammocks, a new line of imported, "south of the border" style hammocks. Among items in the line are family-sized hammocks, single hammocks and a single swing with cushions.
Hatteras Ham-mocks will also introduce The French Provincial Arc to its product line this fall. The hammock stand features a scrolled, heavy gauge steel construction with intricate detailing.
Lawn Comfort, a division of the Bemis Casual Living Products Group, is slated to introduce the Orleans Folding Rocker. The five-position rocker features an intricate, arched patterned back and adjusts from a seated position. The chair is available in white, hunter green and cashmere.

A new padded single-rope swing is just one of several new swings that will be introduced this season. The swing is padded and features Glen Tuff fabric with durable polyester rope.
Also new this season are the new Rice Planters porch swings.
Pawleys Island is also introducing one new hammock style made of quilted fabric and D-rings rather than grommets.
New products from Pride will include its re-engineered resin and glass table design, a new Italian marble-look glass table top, 12 new fabrics and six new frame designs.
The company expects its new Elegance collection combined with the Florelle print cushions to be a best-seller, along with the tempered glass marble tables. The collection is made with a heavy polymer resin and offers a "rattan-look" frame.
Shae Design offers four new collections this season. Bellariva, graceful and elegant, features tapering legs and arms that end in ornamental casings. Decorum, a contemporary transitional style, has a frame that a heavy iron appearance and a contour swag back.
Both groups feature aluminum frames, comfortable cushions and can be stacked for easy shipping and storage. Also from Shae are two rattan/wicker collections: Nantucket and Mendocino.
Among Syroco's introductions at this year's ICFM is the Cascade Aluminum Sling Collection--a complete selection of extruded sling furniture including dining chairs, a double glider and a chaise lounge. The Country Club Collec-tion from Hartman is designed exclusively with the patio specialty retailer in mind. Molded of durable resin, the dining set features a two-color table and coordinating chairs.
Telescope introduces two new collections for 1997. The Concord Strap Collection builds on the success of last year's Concord Sling Collection. The new collection features a sturdy basket-weave lace strap in sandstone, green, ivory and black.
Also new for Telescope is the Kingston Collection designed with both extruded and solid a lum-inum and featuring removable upholstered cushions. The collection has an arm chair, a side chair, a chaise and a 48-inch round glass table.
New from Triconfort is the Normandy Multi-function love seat. It is available in natural assamela hardwood or varnished bubinga hardwood, and is uniquely designed to function as conversational seating (face to face), as a bench and as a cocktail table as well as a love seat.
Tropitone is expanding its Masterworks Cast Collection with the addition of three new aluminum groups, each featuring historical or natural design details.
Bastille offers simple lines and appears to be drafted of slender iron bars connected by hand-wrapped wires, while Sea Lily displays flourishes and curves. The Palm Court group features swaying palm fronds and is limited to dining pieces. Tropitone will also unveil its Garden Collection at the ICFM.
Among the four groups introduced by Woodard is the Palm Isle collection. This design, featuring a tubular aluminum frame, is sleek and sophisticated as a sling and loose and breezy with cushions. The Heritage group, inspired by the "power of primitive art," according to Woodard, features a Tree of Life motif on the back and a woven-look seat.
