A TRANQUIL VIBE THAT IS ALSO NONTOXIC.

The green movement continues at Burbank's Ra Organic Spa, where the treatment ingredients -- along with the walls and floors -- are guaranteed organic or nontoxic. Outside, the spa blends nicely with downtown Burbank's other quaint storefronts. Inside, an apothecary lined with organic lotions, soy candles and bath products welcomes visitors beside a cascading waterfall, instantly creating a tranquil vibe.

A heavy wood door introduces the spa's treatment area, which, with its dim, candle-lit corridor, high vaulted ceilings and wood moldings, feels more insular than the outside greeting area would suggest.

Treatments such as the Pear and Green Apple Body Wrap, Garden of Youth Facial and Manuka Honey Drizzle Bath are performed in one of the six rooms on the main floor. Upstairs are low, canopied beds reserved for the spa's signature Thai massage and lounge chairs for clients seeking the popular herbal foot treatment.

The main draw at Ra, of course, is its commitment to natural products. Nearly all treatment ingredients are organic, and the wood, stone and paint used to build the spa are natural and nontoxic.

A 60-minute Thai massage is $85. The 90-minute Pear and Green Apple Body Wrap is $185. The Manuka Honey Drizzle Bath, which features a rare variety of honey harvested in New Zealand, is $35.

Ra Organic Spa is located at 119 N. San Fernando Road in Burbank. For more information, call (818) 848-4772 or visit www.raorganicspa.com.

SOFT AS A PETAL

As the temperature rises, no one wants to be weighed down with heavy face cream. That's why the Dr. Hauschka skin-care line created Rose Day Cream Light, an alternative for customers who like the original Rose Day Cream but consider it a bit heavy. With a holistic approach to skin care, Dr. Hauschka attempts to use all-natural products to bring skin back to its natural radiance. The new, lighter formula is made with rose petal extract, rose distillate and rose wax to soothe and strengthen skin. Marshmallow root, avocado extract and sesame, almond and wheat germ oils combine to hydrate and calm dry, sensitive skin. The price is $39 for a sleek white 30-milliliter bottle with a sporty orange stripe. Available at Karen Scott Cosmetics in Century City and online at www.amazon.com.
