A TRAIL OF TWO CITIES IN EPIC RIDE.

Byline: Jenny Waddington

TWO Warwickshire cyclists are gearing up for a colossal challenge to complete an epic 180-mile charity bike ride in just 24 hours.

Spencer Brown and Becky Walsh will hit the road on a gruelling pedal-powered journey from London's Marble Arch to the Arc de Triomphe in Paris this weekend.

The duo, who are both from Bilton, Rugby, decided to complete the ambitious ride in aid of Cancer Research UK - a charity close to both their hearts. Spencer, a former Royal Marine who has represented the England rugby union team at international level, is confident the couple can complete the ride despite the tight time frame.

The founder of Peak Performance Centre of Excellence, based in Eastlands Court, Rugby, said: "We decided to make it a bit more challenging than the popular three-day journey from London to Paris by doing it in 24 hours.

"Becky and I have spent a lot of time making sure we are in the right condition for the journey and we are looking forward to it. We chose Cancer Research UK because we have friends and family members who have been affected by cancer, so it is a cause close to our hearts."

The pair's fundraising venture has already received a muchneeded boost after Coventrybased solicitors Band Hatton agreed to donate pounds 200 towards the pair's target of pounds 500 and to help finance some of the costs of the journey.

"There are quite a few costs associated with the trip so we are delighted that Band Hatton has helped to cover those and ensure that we can raise as much money as possible for the charity," added Spencer.

Dawn Mobbs, partner at Band Hatton, is also a member at Peak Performance, which specialises in strength and conditioning as well as injury rehabilitation.

She said: "We are pleased to have been able to support Spencer and Becky as they gear up for this gruelling challenge and we wish them the best of luck. As a member of Peak Performance I have had first-hand experience of the centre's training methods, so I am left in no doubt that they will have prepared as well as they possibly could in order to complete the challenge."
