Irish Legal History Society series
In this comprehensive account of the workings of the Irish Star Chamber Court, Crawford (director, International Education, Roanoke College, Virginia) describes the varying fortunes of the court under successive Irish chief governors from Henry Sydney to Thomas Wentworth. Each of his descriptions includes a review and analysis of the contemporary political context. This first history of the Irish Court of Castle Chamber is augmented by the publication of a complete transcript of the surviving entry book. Other appendices produce additional manuscript sources concerning the court's activities after 1621. Distributed in the US by ISBS.
