A SIT-COM SPIN-OFF TO GET psyched ABOUT; We raise our glasses to Cheers spin-off Frasier, which launched on British telly 25 years ago.
dR FRASIER CRANE went from drinking with the regulars at TV bar Cheers to starring in his own spin-off show. Cheers served its last drink and closed its doors in 1993, but UK fans did not have long to wait until series regular Kelsey Grammer was back as the uptight shrink and self-confessed social snob.
Frasier launched in the UK 25 years ago on April 20, 1994, on Channel 4 and introduced viewers to the whole Crane clan - younger brother and fellow psychiatrist Niles Crane and their gruff ex-cop father Marty.
Eddie The sitcom saw Frasier returning home to Seattle to embark on a new life following his divorce from his wife Lilith, who had custody of their only son Frederick.
His new career path saw him hosting his own radio phone-in show on KACL-780 offering "good mental health" to his callers.
Some of the famous callers over the years included horror writer Stephen King, singer Gloria Estefan, Dame Helen Mirren, Ben Stiller, Carrie Fisher and Kevin Bacon. Kevin played a caller named Vic who confessed he was having a problem with women.
dog The cast also included Jane Leeves as British-born home carer and psychic physical therapist Daphne Moon and Peri Gilpin as Frasier's radio producer Roz Doyle - although John Mahoney, who played Marty always insisted terrier Moose, who played his dog Eddie, got more fan mail than any of them.
Eddie also featured in his own calendar and brought out an autobiography called My Life As A Dog.
He also became famous for his staring matches with Frasier... which he invariably won.
"Don't stare at me, Eddie," warned Frasier in one episode. "I'm a humane man, but in the mood I'm in, I could kick a kitten through an electric fan."
The popular sitcom ran for 263 episodes and won 130 awards before coming to an end.
Kelsey once said: "Honestly, it was just a lovely time.
"The happiest 11
