A HOMEMADE apple crumble is the perfect way to finish a Sunday roast with the family.

And the kids will enjoy helping you to make this just a much as they will eating it.

This easy apple crumble recipe proves that you don''''t have to buy one ready made, it''''s so simple to make your own.

Just layer fruit with a little sugar and a crunchy topping - this recipe uses oats but you can leave them out if you want a plain crumble - and bake.

Now for the all-important question - custard or ice cream? Ingredients: 900g (2lb) Bramley apples, peeled, cored and sliced 75g (3oz) caster sugar 1 tsp ground cinnamon For the crumble: 175g (6oz) butter 225g (8oz) plain flour 100g (4oz) demerara sugar 175g (6oz) jumbo oats Method: | Preheat the oven to 200degC/400oF/Gas Mark 6. | Place the apple slices, caster sugar and cinnamon into a large ovenproof dish.

| Rub the butter into the plain flour, sugar and oats. | Scatter the crumble over the apple mixture in an even layer.

| Bake for 30-35 mins or until golden and the apples are tender. Serve your warm apple crumble with cream or ice-cream for a treat.
