A MOTIVATIONAL STAR IS BORN ... EAST MEETS MIDWEST AS TWO INCENTIVE GIANTS MERGE

METUCHEN, N.J., Jan. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- The best just got better. Two of the most aggressive and growth-oriented companies in the incentive and motivation industry have joined forces. The result is the creation of one of the world's premier incentive marketing companies offering the broadest array of performance improvement systems in the industry.
Citadel Motivation, Inc. of Metuchen and S&H Motivation, Inc., headquartered at Hillside, Ill., have merged their assets to create a dynamic new company that draws from the significant strengths of each. The new company, known as S&H Citadel, Inc., will offer a wide selection of motivation programs to the corporate market. The objective of these programs is to motivate and recognize performance by providing incentives to improve the overall productivity of targeted participant groups.
As in every good partnership, each of the merging companies brings very special qualities to the new corporation. Although both have roughly equal assets and each has a reputation for creating innovative customized programs, each has unique capabilities that complement one another. Citadel's programs have been largely aimed at direct and indirect sales forces using merchandise awards, while S&H Motivation, with a strong heritage in merchandise awards, has emphasized pioneering incentive travel programs.
"The client base of the merging companies is highly compatible," notes Stewart Harris, president and CEO of the new company. "Each partner brings to the table a unique set of clients and capabilities. The result is a merger between equals resulting in the creation of a major new entity in the incentive industry."
The prestigious client lists of the joining companies read like a "Who's Who" of corporate America. S&H Motivation has custom designed and managed full-service motivation/performance improvement programs for each companies as Chrysler Corp., Apple Computers, Caterpillar, Ford Motor Co., Intel, NCR and Dunkin' Donuts. Citadel Motivation has served such key clients as Air France, Armstrong, Texaco, Sony, Bally, Fox Video, Isuzu Truck of America, Johnson & Johnson, Hilton Hotels, and Pepsi Cola Co.
Executive headquarters for S&H Citadel, Inc. will be Metuchen, N.J. Program management, including all travel, marketing services and sales, will be based in Hillside. Merchandise warehouses will be maintained at both locations, as well as in El Segundo, Calif. As one of the pre- eminent incentive companies in the United States, S&H Citadel will have sales offices in 19 cities nationwide.
According to Frank Pirri, vice chairman of the new company, "The merger will greatly expand the number and variety of results driven motivational programs available to the clients and prospects of both of the merged companies. Our programs will enable clients to increase productivity, reduce costs, increase sales and profit, and build customer loyalty."
Pirri noted that a detailed merger plan will ensure a "seamless transition" without interruption in programs or services. "In fact, from the client point of view," Pirri added, "the new company, with its streamlined operations, is positioned to set new standards in its ability to be immediately responsive and totally accessible to existing and new clients."
