A HOT TIP FOR MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND -- A FURNITURE STORE?

A HOT TIP FOR MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND -- A FURNITURE STORE?
TORRANCE, Calif., May 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Just when you thought you

had the same old Memorial Day weekend options -- a barbecue or a trip to a crowded beach -- IKEA offers a wonderfully unique alternative: Bring the whole family to the IKEA Grand Opening Celebration on May 20-May 25. Families can spend a full day listening to live music, watching entertainers perform, meeting their favorite radio disc jockeys, and of course, shopping for intelligently designed, affordable home furnishings.
Parents will find the excursion to IKEA a unique family outing in everything from the food (authentic Swedish meatballs, Swedish pancakes, and specially priced hot dogs, ice cream and drinks); the entertainment (Swedish folk dancers, bebop a cappella singers, a Dixieland jazz band, and a country western band); and the personalities (disc jockeys from KPWR, KIIS, KZLA, KJLH and KKBT).
Children will be especially entertained by the balloon sculptors, clowns and a moon bounce located in the activity tent outside the store.
All four stores will participate in a drawing for a 1992 Volvo 240 station wagon, a trip to Sweden on Scandinavian Airlines System with $1,000 spending money, and a leather sofa. And, the first 100 people in line at both stores every day of the six-day grand opening celebration will receive a special prize.
And everyone will be pleased with the tremendous value on home furnishings that IKEA is offering during the grand opening. The opening special items will be offered at all four Southern California stores -- Tustin, City of Industry, Burbank and Fontana. The festivities begin at 9 a.m., Wednesday, May 20 at the new IKEA Tustin and City of Industry locations with additional "celebration parties" at Burbank and Fontana.
