A FAVOURITE watering hole which reopened in the summer is really taking off. The Trimmers Arms in Commercial Road, South Shields, is now a popular live music venue.

Tomorrow sees one of the region's blues bands hit the stage. The Skywalkers, featuring Kenny 'The Sax' Kirsopp, off at 8.30pm. There are live bands every Friday and Saturday, while each Tuesday the bar hosts a jazz/blues open-mic night.

On Thursday, October 29, there will be a Bobby Thompson tribute night. Tickets cost pounds 14.95, including a three-course dinner and a live magic act. Call Trimmers on (0191) 454 5550.
