A Dune deal for new Polo.

Volkswagen's Polo takes on a whole new attitude this summer with the launch of a distinctive new model.

The Polo Dune is priced from pounds 12,495 on the road and combines the tough, rugged looks of a 4x4 with the compact proportions and nimble dynamics for which VW's supermini is renowned.

The Dune is available with a choice of three efficient engines, a 1.2-litre 65bhp three cylinder petrol, a 1.4-litre 75bhp four cylinder petrol and a 1.4-litre 75bhp TDI three cylinder diesel power source.

All come with five-speed manual transmission as standard.

Only two options are offered in the livery stakes, metallic or pearl effect paint and a six disc CD autochanger, because, say VW, the Dune's list of standard kit is already comprehensive.

Highlights of the kit list include semi automatic climate control, ABS braking, electric glass sunroof, distinctive 17-inch alloys, electric windows all round, CD player, electrically heated and adjustable door mirrors, front fogs, remote central locking and four airbags.

In addition to the alloy wheels, the Dune can be distinguished from other Polos in the VW stable through its raised suspension height, darkened rear lenses, anodised chrome finish door mirror housings and roof rails, plus uniquely shaped bumpers.

The VW Polo Dune is just as individual on the inside. The sports steering wheel with anodised chrome spokes is trimmed with perforated leather, as are the gear knob and handbrake grip. The bright metallic look is also feature on the pedals.

The Polo Dune made its debut this week at The Sunday Times Motor Show Live at the Birmingham NEC and is due at a showroom near you next month.
