A DOUBLE DOUBLE DIP(SM) -- HILTON AND AMERICAN EXPRESS JOIN FORCES TO OFFER GUESTS DOUBLE POINTS AND DOUBLE MILES

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., Jan. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- While some hotel chains are scaling back the earnings available in their guest reward programs, Hilton has doubled the stakes with a new promotion offering both double airline miles for your hotel stay and double HHonors hotel points for American Express(R) Card members.
From Jan. 10 through March 31, members of the HHonors guest reward program who pay for their qualifying stays using the American Express Card will earn twice the usual number of airline miles and HHonors points.
"The fact is, frequent travelers are getting squeezed by tough economics in the travel industry," said Michael A. Ribero, Hilton's senior vice president of marketing. "Airlines are varying the mileage required for free tickets and most hotel chains have now eliminated Double Dipping, which is the joint accumulation of both airline miles and hotel points. In light of the current situation, I'm certain our offer of double points and double miles will be especially well received."
As of Jan. 1, 1994, Hilton HHonors is the largest guest reward program to still allow its members to Double Dip.
"We have maintained our position on Double Dipping out of a strong commitment to providing HHonors members with real value," Ribero said. "And even though we are offering both double points and double airline miles for your hotel stay, there will be no reduction in any of the in- hotel HHonors services or program rewards."
Earn HHonors Travel Rewards, Double Time
Through the promotion, HHonors members will earn double the usual amount of Base points for qualifying stays at more than 230 U.S. Hilton and international Conrad hotels when they pay for their stay using the American Express Card. This translates into 20 Base points for each eligible dollar spent (including room service and telephone charges) at business-related rates at non-resort hotels.
At the same time they are earning double HHonors points, members can earn double airline miles for their hotel stay with one of the following airlines:
 Airline: Double Miles Per Stay:
 Alaska Airlines 1,000
 America West 1,000
 Delta Air Lines 2,000
 Mexicana Airlines 2,000 kms
 United Airlines 1,000
 USAir 1,000
With the exception of Mexicana and USAir, members can receive these miles regardless of whether or not they fly in conjunction with their Hilton stay. Mexicana and USAir require a qualifying flight along with an HHonors stay to receive miles.
Hilton HHonors is a guest reward program designed for the frequent traveler who selects U.S. Hiltons or international Conrad hotels as his or her hotel choice on business and pleasure trips. Enrolled members receive special privileges and accumulate HHonors points which can be exchanged for a variety of rewards ranging from Hilton hotel stays and airline tickets to cruises and gift merchandise.
Membership in HHonors is free. To enroll instantly or for more information or reservations, call 800-HILTONS. To apply for the American Express Card, call 800-THE-CARD.
