970 camels in Badin catch pneumonia.

HYDERABAD, December 01, 2010 (Balochistan Times): A team of experts from Central Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory diagnosed camels in Thar and Badin districts with symptoms of pneumonia disease. According to Director Animal Husbandry Sindh, a team of veterinarians from the laboratory was sent to those areas after news of spread of viral infections in camels was reported in a section of press from Badin and Tharparkar districts. He said that as per the report submitted by the team, symptoms like fever, cough, lack of appetite, difficulty in breathing and pouring out of saliva from mouth were found in the camels. As many as 970 camels in Badin had caught the pneumonia disease while in Tharparkar the number was also high. The director apprised that the vets had been directed to complete treatment of all the suffering camels and in that regard free medicines had also been supplied to them. Meanwhile, camel breeders had been advised to separate the affected camels from other animals and also to report to the doctors if similar symptoms are found in other animals.
