911 really packs a punch.
THE iconic Porsche 911 Turbo is back in business, packing an even bigger punch than it ever has before.
Priced from pounds 101,823 for the 911 Turbo Coupe and pounds 109,048 for the Cabriolet, it will make its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September, two months before it goes on sale.
With a top speed close on 200mph and a 0 to 60mph acceleration time of 3.4 seconds, the Turbo is the seventh generation 911 supercar and powered by the first new engine in its 35-year history.
Developing 500bhp, the 3.8-litre six- cylinder engine has direct fuel injection and twin variable geometry turbos, making it as efficient as it is potent.
Porsche is claiming the new car will average close on 25mpg, an 18% improvement over its predecessor. The 911 Turbo will have the option of a seven-speed double clutch gearbox and paddle shifters as well as launch control for maximum take-off power.
Standard equipment includes a touch-screen system with both Bluetooth mobile telephone and music player connectivity.
Also fitted to every 911 Turbo is a Porsche Vehicle Tracking System (VTS), a sophisticated vehicle security package.
WINNING FORMULA The new Porsche 911 Turbo starts at pounds 101,823, so it has to be pretty special. Its 0-60 time is 3.4 seconds and the looks have won innumerable fans.
