8/ The Sultanate's Natural Gas Production.

Muscat, May 28 (ONA) ----Initial figures released by the National Centre for Statics and Information (NCSI) said that the local production and import of natural gas during the first four months of 2016 increased by 10% compared to the same period in 2015 to stay at 13.634 billion cubic meters including 2.337 billion cubic meters of associated gas and 11.297 billion cubic meters of non-associated gas and imports.

The NCSI also said that as of gas consumption concentrated at the industrial projects, 60% or 8.179 billion cubic meters compared to 7.258 billion cubic meters in the same period last year ; a growth by 12.7%. The uses also included power plants, 16.5% of the production and import or 2.248 billion cubic meters compared to 2.303 billion cubic meters during the reporting period- a decline by 2.4%. The industrial estates, Oman Mining Company, Oman Cement Company and SQU consumed 190 million cubic meters of gas, a decline by 12.6%.

3.017 billion cubic meters of natural gas were used as fuel, in oilfield injection and burnt gases.

It should be noted that in 2015 the Sultanate's production and imports of natural gas stood at 39.806 billion cubic meters.
