7things you never knew about... 7 days TV.

1Amanda was born October 10 1956 in County Londonderry, Northern Ireland, the youngest of four daughters of a primary school headmaster

2She shot to fame in Brookside, before playing a GP in Peak Practice and then forensic pathologist Sam Ryan in Silent Witness.

3Amanda married theatre technician Jonathan Hartley at 20 and it lasted eight years - she now says: "It's really naff getting married that young."

Her 17-year, second marriage to photographer Sven Arnstein collapsed when he abandoned her for a woman 20 years her junior. They have two teenage daughters

4Amanda was spotted having 'intimate' evenings out with unlikely dining companion David Blunkett, but now she's found love again with another photographer, Stephen Colover.

5Earlier this year she launched a bitter attack on reality TV shows and celebrity magazines, accusing them of encouraging women to attack and humiliate each other.

6Amanda completed this year's 13-mile Great North Run, finishing in two and a half hours.

7She is descended from playwright and wit Oscar Wilde on her mother's side.
