7of the best... TIM BURTON FILMS.

1BEETLEJUICE (1988) AN early film hit about a couple who turn to the maverick Beetlejuice for help when they suddenly end up dead. To make matters worse, a new family have moved into their old home and given it a makeover. The film became one of the biggest grossing movies of the year and Tim Burton has been announced as the executive producer and director of Beetlejuice 2.

2 EDWARD SCISSORHANDS (1990) THE first of eight movies Tim Burton has made over the years with Johnny Depp. Others include Ed Wood in 1994, Charlie And The Chocolate Factory in 2005 (inset), Corpse Bride in 2005 and Dark Shadows in 2012. Tim says: "Johnny's always wanting to sort of hide behind a character. I've always loved great character actors."

3 SLEEPY HOLLOW (1999) ANOTHER Johnny Depp collaboration based on the Washington Irving story about a terrifying headless horseman returning from the dead to decapitate the residents of Sleepy Hollow. Tim also brought Hammer film veteran Michael Gough out of retirement to play Notary Hardenbrook and cast Sir Christopher Lee as Burgomaster in the movie.

4 PLANET OF THE APES (2001) BECAME romantically involved with British actress Helena Bonham Carter during filming - she was playing an ape called Ari, right, in the movie. Johnny Depp later became godfather to their son Billy and they also had a daughter called Nell in 2007. Tim has said in the past that he actually has a fear of monkeys.

5 SWEENEY TODD: THE DEMON BARBER OF FLEET STREET (2007) WORKED with both Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter in the big screen version of Stephen Sondheim's musical about a London barber who enters into a sinister partnership with his pie-making neighbour. Tim wanted lots of blood and said: "Everything is so internal with Sweeney, that the blood is like his emotional release."

6 ALICE IN WONDERLAND (2010) GAVE his own twist to the famous Lewis Carroll story. He cast Barbara Windsor as the Dormouse because he was a fan of her EastEnders character. Johnny Depp played a Scottish Mad Hatter and Helena Bonham Carter played the large-headed Red Queen. Michael Gough also returned to play the Dodo Bird. He had previously played the March Hare in the 1966 movie.

7 MISS PEREGRINE'S HOME FOR PECULIAR CHILDREN (2016) WORKED with Eva Green in the film fantasy based on the novel by Ransom Riggs.

Tim once said: "I always liked strange characters" and the film featured a whole school of students with special powers - presided over by Eva Green as Miss Peregrine. She and Tim had previously worked together on Dark Shadows.
