777 Westchester Ave named 'Building of the Year.' (Tambrands building selected by Westchester County, New York's Building Owners and Managers Association)

777 Westchester Avenue, The Tambrands Building, has been awarded The Office Building of the Year (TOBY) Award by the Building Owners and Managers Association (BONA) of Westchester County. EastRidge Properties received top honors for the building in the Rehabilitated and Modernized category.

Phyllis Ross, executive director of BOMA Westchester, made the announcement.

777 Westchester Avenue is a five-story masonry, glass and steel structure with solar-filmed bronze tone windows located in White Plains Office Park. Building upgrades, which were done in 1991, included a new roof, improved lighting, modernized elevators, asbestos removal, and new HVAC systems including a computerized energy management system.

Other improvements included upgraded front and rear entrances, and the creation of offices suitable for a modern and efficient corporat headquarters. In addition, tenant amenities such as a cafeteria, physical fitness center and executive dining facilities have been installed.

777 Weschester Avenue serves as the corporate headquarters of Tambrands, Inc., as well as home to Fund American Enterprises, both New York Stock Exchange companies. The original architect was Thomas Mannino, and the design of the renovation was by Hickok Warner Associates.

According to Michael Ziatyk, senior vice president of Albert B. Ashforth and managing director for EastRidge Properties, is currently investing $25 million into all four of its offices parks, involving extensive landscaping with the addition of 1,700 trees, walking trails, picnic tables and park benches. New amenities include the recently-opened EastRidge Conference Center. Also planned are expanded restaurant services, new sundry shops and health club facilities.

The TOBY awards are sponsored every year by BOMA International to salute outstanding examples of the finest office buildings in North America. Selection criteria includes excellence in management, operation, marketing, development and design. Winners in Westchester County will proceed to competition on the regional level.
