760 BAD COPS IN BRITAIN'S BIGGEST FORCE; Figures reveal sex attack claims.


ALMOST 800 Metropolitan Police officers have been found guilty of crimes or misconduct in the past four years.

Seventeen cops quit the London force, Britain's biggest, after facing probes into sex attacks including one rape and 10 sexual assaults. Another 43 were accused of corruption, newly released figures reveal.

An astonishing 760 officers have been found guilty of misconduct at disciplinary hearings since 2009... 54 of them were convicted of crimes in court.

A total of 380 officers resigned while facing misconduct allegations, including 98 for neglect of duty, 18 for incivility, impoliteness or intolerance, 17 for improper disclosure of information and 14 for oppressive conduct or harassment. Another 67 officers resigned during the last four years after being accused of crimes including 43 for corruption - 37 of which were proven. Of those who left, 54 were found guilty of offences. Seven were jailed, including one sergeant and a detective sergeant, while three got community service.

The figures showed two detective constables and two senior officers resigned after they were accused of violence.

Another 18 cops, including one detective constable, quit after being accused of drink driving, two officers resigned following drugs allegations and two others quit over theft claims... 16 were banned from the road for offences including drink driving. West Midlands Police, the UK's second biggest force, saw 111 officers, PCSOs and civilian staff resign while under investigation.

The force decided 74 had cases to answer, including 48 allegations against cops.

A total of 26 admitted or were convicted of crimes, while a further eight got cautions. One cop faced allegations of oppressive conduct or harassment. Scotland Yard said: "The Met has over 30,000 police officers and over 5,000 Special Constables, the vast majority of whom perform their duties to the high standards the role demands."
