7 yrs for blaze kill girlfriend.
A WOMAN who torched her boyfriend to death in a bid to scare him into moving out was jailed yesterday for seven years.
Kerrie Hogben waited for Matthew Thatcher, 28, to fall asleep after a drunken row then dropped a lighted cigarette on his bed, shut the door and went downstairs.
He was rescued from the blaze during the 2002 fire strikes by an Army "Green Godess" crew but died in hospital.
Hogben, 32, a mother of one, of Eccles, Kent, admitted manslaughter.
Judge Justice Harrison told her at Maidstone crown court: "It was a wicked and dangerous thing to have done."
Her QC Nicholas Price said: "This was a volatile relationship ... turbulent and fuelled by drink."
Matthew's Christian parents said later they forgave her and would pray for her.
Mum Linda said: "We do forgive Kerrie and feel very sorry for her.
"We have never felt bitter towards her. We have just felt devastated."
