7 tv films of the week.

1 STUART LITTLE Today, Film4, 1pm STUART LITTLE (voiced by Michael J Fox) is a charming, clever and enthusiastic mouse, who can talk just like you or I, and looks great in plaid pyjamas. Stuart lives at a New York City orphanage where he is spotted by Mr and Mrs Little (Hugh Laurie, Geena Davis) who are looking to adopt a baby brother or sister for their son George (Jonathan Lipnicki). Immediately enamoured by the sensitive mouse, they decide to welcome Stuart into their home. George isn't thrilled about the prospect of a rodent brother while Stuart has a close run in with the pampered family cat Snowbell (voiced by Nathan Lane).

2 EAT PRAY LOVE Tomorrow, 5*, 11pm LIZ'S (Julia Roberts, right) marriage to Stephen (Billy Crudup) ends in acrimony and she seeks refuge with best friend Delia (Viola Davis). A dalliance with David (James Franco) convinces her to embark on a year-long odyssey. Liz heads first to Rome, where she rediscovers her passion for food, then to India where she reconnects with herself, then finally to Bali where love may await.

3 8 MILE Tuesday, ITV4, 11.40pm EMINEM, pictured, is impressive in the lead role. Perhaps it helped that the story was inspired by his own story. He plays Jimmy 'B-Rabbit' Smith, an aspiring rapper from Michigan. His life is in turmoil - he has few friends, no job, lives in a violent area and his mother is an alcoholic - but if he can grab an opportunity to make the most of his talent, he may be able to escape his past.

4 EVEREST Wednesday, Film4, 9pm EVEREST is a slickly orchestrated recreation of an ill-fated ascent to 29,029 feet above sea level, where altitude sickness silently stalks even the most experienced climbers. Rob Hall (Jason Clarke) and Scott Fischer (Jake Gyllenhaal, pictured) lead rival expeditions, racing against one another and the elements to ensure their clients are on top of the world.

5 REAR WINDOW Thursday, Film4, 2.30pm ALFRED HITCHCOCK'S masterpiece stars James Stewart, pictured, as a wheelchair-bound photographer who whiles away the hours by gazing out of his window. He becomes convinced his neighbour has murdered his wife, and sets out to prove it, with terrifying results. Many filmmakers have tried to imitate Hitch's work but no-one has ever been able to emulate him.

6 THE EXPENDABLES Friday, ITV2, 9pm BARNEY ROSS (Sylvester Stallone, pictured) is the leader of a band of mercenaries known as The Expendables. They are hired to overthrow General Gaza (David Zayas), who rules the island of Vilena with an iron fist. Barney is joined by Lee Christmas (Jason Statham), Yin Yang (Jet Li), Hale Caesar (Terry Crews), Toll Road (Randy Couture) and Gunnar Jensen (Dolph Lundgren).

7 DADDY'S HOME Saturday, Channel 4 9pm COMEDY starring Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell. Brad Whitaker (Ferrell, right) is a radio presenter who tries his best to get his two step-children to love him and call him dad. But his plans suffer a setback when the youngsters' biological dad - charismatic, motorcycle-riding tough guy Dusty Mayron (Wahlberg) - returns. Brad pulls out all the stops to prove that he's just as cool as Dusty.
