7 hurt in Camarines Sur clash !-- -- Michael Punongbayan (The Philippine Star) - May 6, 2019 - 12:00am MANILA, Philippines Seven persons werewounded in an encounter between government security forces and suspected New People's Army (NPA) guerrillas in Libmanan, Camarines Sur over the weekend. Among those wounded were a soldier, two militiamen and four civilians.

The military said the NPA also suffered casualties and injuries. Reports said the troopers were responding to information that a group of rebels destroyed the water system in Sitio Burong-Burong, Barangay Malinao on Saturday.

The soldiers were helping the residents fix the water pipes when the guerrillas reportedly opened fire at them, triggering an encounter that lasted 15 minutes. The injured troopers and civilians were brought to a nearby hospital for treatment The military deployed additional troopers in the area to track down the rebels.
