66 teachers complete civil service training with University of Central Asia.

The last group of 18 instructors has completed their Training of Trainers under the Certificate Program Local Economic and Community Development developed by the School of Professional and Continuing Education (SPCE), the first operational education program of the University of Central Asia (UCA). The training is part of the Recruitment of New Generation Managers into Public and Municipal Service program announced in late April by the Government. The Certificate Program Local Economic and Community Development gives civil servants 30 credits ECTS (European Credit Transfer System). SPCE has developed 9 interconnected modules of the Certificate Program which provide the civil servants with short-term, intensive training in the areas of economics, management and other applied skills. The training for 18 instructors from Batken, Osh, Jalal-Abad, Talas, Issyk-Kul and Naryn oblasts as well as Bishkek which consists of two modules Mobilizing Community Resources and Diversity and Interethnic Relations lasted for 5 days. Following the completion of the Certificate Program, the instructors will then provide civil service management courses for some 1,500 young people from all over the country.Kubat Asan uulu, a history teacher from Naryn State University stressed that the training will help him to influence youth: "Our young people sincerely want change and wish Kyrgyzstan prosperity. The skills I received at the training will enable me to teach young managers effective state management and how to mobilize communities." According to Myrzakmatov Abdymetalip, a literature teacher from Osh State University, the module on interethnic relations was very relevant: "Practical skills to manage interethnic relations are important both for teachers and civil servants. I hope that by working with young people in the South of the country, I will manage to erase the stigma by applying methods and resources gained during the training." SPCE Director, Gulnara Djunushalieva, stressed that the idea for the Certificate Program emerged only in May and developing it in record time was challenging. The nine modules that form the Certificate Program and the accompanying learning resources in Russian and Kyrgyz languages are new. The training is held at the Academy of Management under the President of the Kyrgyz republic which is responsible for the implementation of the program. SPCE has already developed and published seven original textbooks and provided several thousand copies to the Academy of Management and the instructors of the Certificate Program in Bishkek and in regional universities. Other groups of 48 instructors completed their training under the Certificate Program in June. Currently these instructors are improving professional skills of civil servants in senior and junior levels of qualification in Bishkek and other oblasts of the country. The University of Central Asia was founded in 2000 by the governments of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic and Tajikistan, and His Highness the Aga Khan.
