64% of pensioners receive pensions below subsistence line in 2012.

The number of pensioners who received pensions below subsistence line in 2012 comprised 64%. This index comprised 85% in 2009, representative of Kyrgyzstan Social Fund Jypar Chanacheva said on March 5. Scale of pensions grew quicker than salaries in 2007-2011. "Salaries in Kyrgyzstan are not as high as in other countries, income to pension fund is not high as a result. There are 330,000 of pensioners who receive pensions below subsistence line. We need around 3 billion soms to solve the issue," Jypar Chanacheva said. Average salary in Kyrgyzstan comprises 10,891 soms ($229). For comparison, salary comprises $446 in Belarus, $665 in Kazakhstan and $885 in Russia. Average pension comprises 4,270 ($89) in Kyrgyzstan, subsistence line is 4,205 soms.
