616 ticket-less passengers caught in Rawalpindi Division.

RAWALPINDI -- The Railway's special squad has apprehended over 616 ticket-less passengers in Rawalpindi division during last two weeks against the menace of ticket-less travelling.

The special raiding teams of Rawalpindi Railway Division carried out surprise checks on various trains and caught 616 ticket-less passengers and recovered Rs 403,000 as fare and penalty.

According to the DCO Rawalpindi Division Hamid Farooq Qureshi, the raids were conducted under the supervision of the officers.

On the directive of the DS Rawalpindi Division, dining cars were also inspected by the officials to ensure that hygienic food was served to passengers. Railway authorities have taken strict notice of complaints from people about serving of sub-standard food on trains despite the high prices.

He said that the menace of travelling without tickets in trains was decreasing day by day due to strict measures by the department.
