600 BANK STAFF STRIKE.

AROUND 600 staff at the Central Bank and Financial Regulator went out on strike yesterday.

Members of the Unite trade union said the one-day strike is due to the frustration at management's withdrawal from talks over employment contracts. It claims it is a breach of existing arrangements. Pickets were placed on the Central Bank in Dame Street and at the Office of the Financial Regulator on College Green in Dublin city.

Pickets were also placed at the Central Bank's currency centre in Sandyford.
