60 thugs cower in bar siege.

AROUND 60 football hooligans barricaded themselves in a pub after street battles.

Police were called by terrified members of the public who were caught up in the violence in Edinburgh as bottles flew.

Dundee casuals who had arrived without tickets to see their side play Hibs on Saturday, fled into the El Barrio bar when around 40 police arrived.

Superintendent Terry Powell said: 'Our men could not just burst in because of the size of the group in the pub. They simply would not fit.'

Police called a double decker bus to the West Port bar and coaxed out the hooligans who were taken to the train station.

They were under guard all the way home and no arrests were made.
