57 programs named awards for Municipal Excellence finalists.

NLC received 173 nominations from cities and towns from 36 states for the 2008 Awards for Municipal Excellence. Fifty-seven projects and programs, listed below, have moved into finalist status for consideration in the awards process.

A panel of eight judges will convene in September to choose the winners. Two winners, Gold and Silver, will be selected from each population category.

The winners will be announced at NLC's Congress of Cities and Exposition in Orlando, Fla,. November 11-15. Information about this prestigious award can be found on NLC's website at
