5 A DAY Across The USA Comes to Fort Walton Beach, Florida.

Business Editors

Produce Man and the team from the Produce For Better Health Foundation will join the staff of Kelley's SUPERVALU supermarket (115 Racetrack Road) for a "Veggie Fest" on Sunday afternoon, March 11, from 1 to 2:30.

"This is going to be a terrific event," said Mike Kelly, the store's owner.

There will be games and prizes for kids, recipes and nutrition information for parents, and samples of all kinds of fruits and vegetables for everyone to try. A special "kids" tour of the produce department is planned and Produce Man has promised to show everyone some "moves" that will make exercise fun.

"We want everyone to know how easy it is to make eating more fruits and vegetables and regular exercise an everyday habit," said Mr. Kelly.

There is overwhelming evidence that eating 5 or more servings of fruits and vegetables a day and regular exercise can significantly decrease the chance of getting diseases like cancer, heart disease and stroke," says Elizabeth Pivonka, Ph.D., R.D., president of the Produce For Better Health Foundation.

"We want to thank Mike Kelly and all the people at Fort Walden's SUPERVALU for supporting the 5 A DAY ACROSS THE USA TOUR," she says.

The Produce for Better Health Foundation is the catalyst for creating a healthier America through increased consumption of fruits and vegetables. The Foundation is a nonprofit organization which, in cooperation with the National Cancer Institute, sponsors the national 5 A Day for Better Health program.

National sponsors for the 5 A DAY ACROSS THE USA TOUR are: Del Monte Foods (Orchard Select and Sunfresh brands), Del Monte Fresh Produce N. A., Inc., DNE World Fruit Sales, Dole Food Company, A. Duda & Sons, Inc., Fresh Express, David Oppenheimer & Company, Ready Pac Produce, Syngenta, Washington Apple Commission and Western Growers Insurance Services. Country Best, a division of Agway Inc. and Sun Spiced USA sponsor the tour in Florida.
