46 found dead in race hate massacre.
Up to 46 bodies were found scattered at the crest of a hill the day after Serb forces launched a fierce attack on the ethnic Albanian village of Racak.
Witnesses said some of the bodies had their eyes gouged out, heads smashed while one man had been decapitated.
All were wearing civilian clothing and many were older men.
Foreign Secretary Robin Cook condemned the killers as "savage" and called for them to be brought to trial for crimes against humanity.
"I am appalled and deeply distressed by the reports from Kosovo of the murder of Kosovan Albanians near the village of Racak," he said.
"I condemn this savage act in the strongest possible terms. My thoughts are with the families of the victims.
"It is essential that these murders should not trigger off a spiral of reprisals. I urge all sides to resist any such temptation. There can be no military solution to this conflict."
International monitors initially counted at least 28 bodies but Kosovan sources claim up to 46 people were slaughtered.
Mr Cook said he would hold meetings with other foreign ministers to ensure, "we bring home to those responsible the world community's utter revulsion at this atrocity."
