by Times TV

An inspection team from the Ministry of Manpower has arrested 45 illegal workers from various parts of the capital area. According to the ministry, 40 of the workers are housemaids, found violating provisions of the Labour Law. The inspection campaigns were carried out in coordination with concerned authorities in Seeb, Al Khuwair and Qurum. "The raid comes within the ministry's efforts to regulate the labour market and to control the illegal non-Omani labour force which negatively affects the country's security and economy, and work is underway to organise similar campaigns according to the ministry's plan."- Salim Al Badi, General Director of Labour Welfare in the ministry
