4 FPS personnel detained for dereliction on Mosul blast.

NINEWA / Aswat al-Iraq: Four personnel of the Facility Protection Service (FPS) were detained for their dereliction of duty on a blast in western Mosul city, according to the Ninewa police chief on Sunday.

"An investigation was launched today (Oct. 24) into a car bomb blast inside the Medicine City in western Mosul," Maj. General Ahmed Hassan Attiya told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

"Four FPS guards who were on duty on the Medicine City gates were detained for dereliction despite strict orders to them to tighten measures on vehicles entering the facility," Attiya added.

Earlier, a Ninewa police source told Aswat al-Iraq that two civilians were killed and 19 others wounded when an explosive vehicle parked inside the Medicine City in western Mosul went off.

Mosul, the capital city of the troubled province of Ninewa, lies 405 km north of Baghdad.
