3rd Annual Youth Sports Injury Prevention Summit At U.S. Cellular Field August 7.
CHICAGO, July 21, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Some of the nation's most respected sports medicine physicians will join athletic directors, coaches and trainers to discuss the latest updates in sports injuries and prevention strategies during a free conference at U.S. Cellular Field, 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Friday, August 7.
The third annual Sports Injury Prevention Summit is being hosted by Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush Center for Orthopedic Education & Learning. The event includes breakfast, free parking and a tour of U.S. Cellular Field.
The forum features Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush sports medicine specialists, including Drs.Brian Cole, Anthony Romeo, Adam Yanke and Jeffrey Mjaanes, who are team physicians for the Chicago White Sox, Chicago Bulls, Chicago Fire Soccer Club and DePaul Blue Demons. They will lead the interactive discussion followed by a panel discussion featuring: John Byrne, athletic director, Wendell Phillips Academy H.S; Matt Munjoy, vice president of the Illinois Athletic Trainers Association; Tai Duncan, executive director, Positive Coaching Alliance; and Drs. Mjaanes and Charles Bush-Joseph, MOR sports medicine physicians.
Experts agree that youth sports injuries are on the rise. A Safe Kids survey of emergency room visits shows that every 25 seconds, a youth visits a hospital emergency room for a sports-related injury. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) reports that more than half of all youth sports injuries are preventable.
