3dfx breaks 1bn/second fill rate barrier with new graphics accelerator.
3dfx Interactive Inc has unveiled the Voodoo5 6000 AGP, its new 3D graphics accelerator.
According to the company the graphics accelerator is the first consumer graphics product to break the 1bn pixel per second fill rate barrier by delivering a fill rate of between 1.33 and 1.47 gigatexels/gigapixels per second.
The Voodoo 5 6000 AGP also offers quad VSA-100 processors, 128Mb of graphics memory and a full scene anti-aliasing (FSAA) feature for the elimination of such visual deficiencies as jagged edges and pixel popping. In addition the accelerator features 3dfx's proprietary T-buffer digital cinematic effects which enable acceleration of Hollywood style techniques including motion blur, depth of field, soft shadows and soft reflections.
Availability and pricing were not revealed.
