THE future's not looking too rosy for Pop Idol winner Michelle McManus.

The 23-year-old Scot's second single, The Meaning Of Love, has only reached No.17 in the midweek charts selling just 2,082 copies since going on sale on Monday. It was beaten by rock band Rasmus who went in at No.4 and a group called Narcotic Thrust.

And Michelle's album, which was only released last month, has already fallen to No.84.

But it's not just Michelle who is suffering from the curse of Pop Idol. Judge Pete Waterman has quit the show and said the last series was worse than the first. The 57-year-old stormed off set when Michelle won last year and said: "I've had enough."

It was all so different when her debut single All This Time was released at the beginning of the year. It was No.1 for three weeks and sold more than 100,000 copies in its first week alone.

Well, they do say it's not over until the fat lady sings...
