ROAD TO PERDITION Saturday, Film4 9PM

Tom Hanks (right) stars in this gripping 30s gangster epic from James Bond's saviour, Sam Mendes. A fastidious film of dark beauty, it contains the last great screen performance by Paul Newman.

GANGSTER SQUAD Friday, Sky Movies Premiere 8pm

PREMIERE

Sean Penn stars as Mickey Cohen, who claimed to own post-war LA. Square-jawed cop Josh Brolin (above) leads the fight against his Mob goons. CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF MEATBALLS Sunday, C5, 4.20pm

Boy wonder inventor Flint Lockwood (voiced by Bill Hader) turns water into food. Which is perfectly fine by Swallow Falls... until it starts raining a perfect storm of everything from soup to nuts.
