3M products multiply.

3M has several new products made by applying Cubitron, or a special grinding aid, or both to existing product lines. The grinding aid is typically a material such as a metal phosphate added to the patented supersize coating of coated abrasives during manufacture to enhance performance in grinding titanium, stainless steel, or other metal. The products include the new 577F belt, targeted for stainless steels and nickel alloys at low pressures; 964F belts, designed for high pressure applications and special metals; and 967 belts, which are best for heat-sensitive and difficult-to-grind materials. The Fibre Disc 501C incorporates a grinding aid to improve performance with a variety of metals and makes the product more competitive with type 27 wheels. The new Scotch-Brite RS incorporates Cubitron abrasives in a nonwoven product for the first time.
