3D MODELS\TEXTURES\SHADERS OFFERED VIA DIGITAL MARKETPLACE.

Gamasutra.com and Turbo Squid Corporation have launched an online marketplace for the exchange of 3D models, textures, shaders, motion files and other digital assets used in game development. The new venture, entitled Gamasutra Exchange, facilitates the rapid location, purchase and download of all types of content by using software technology developed by Turbo Squid. Alternatively, game developers can generate revenue by uploading assets, setting their price, and allowing others to purchase them. The new marketplace, which already boasts an inventory of over 70,000 items, will help game development teams save time, effort and money by recycling their digital assets.

Turbo Squid's technology has been licensed to Gamasutra.com as part of an exclusive licensing agreement to provide the service to game developers. Gamasutra Exchange marks the first time that an efficient means of digital asset exchange has been made available to this community in this capacity.

"Today's games often comprise thousands of individual digital assets, so the ability to leverage existing work can save time and get games to market more rapidly. With the combination of Turbo Squid's technology and Gamasutra.com's wide reach in the game developer community, the Gamasutra Exchange is poised to play a major role in satisfying developers' needs for ready-made assets," said Alex Dunne, executive producer, CMP Game Media Group. "We also see the Gamasutra Exchange as a method by which game developers can make their original content easily available for others to purchase and download." "The Gamasutra Exchange is a marketplace that allows game developers the opportunity to locate and acquire assets more efficiently, eliminating some of the challenges developers face in this deadline-driven industry," said David Avgikos, president and CEO, Turbo Squid. "It also offers the ideal environment for developers who want to generate income from the sale of their own content."

The Gamasutra Exchange client application is free and can be downloaded at www.gamasutra.com/exchange/.
