3D LABS DEBUTS OXYGEN GVX210 WORKSTATION GRAPHICS ACCELERATOR.

3Dlabs, Inc., Sunnyvale, Calif., (NASDAQ:TDDD) has introduced the Oxygen GVX210, the latest high-end member of the Oxygen family of workstation graphics accelerators. Oxygen GVX210 delivers industrial-strength graphics quality and performance that is optimized for the highest possible real application performance. Oxygen GVX210 directly drives two monitors from a single, standard AGP slot and fully accelerates 3D volumetric textures as used in advanced medical and visualization applications. Oxygen GVX210 is available internationally through a distributor and reseller network at an estimated e-tailer price of $1,299 USD. Pricing in regions outside the United States may be different and will be determined by local circumstances.

The Oxygen GVX210 replaces the Oxygen GMX as 3Dlabs' high-end accelerator, complementing the award-winning mid-range Oxygen GVX1 and the entry-level Oxygen VX1 workstation accelerators. By combining two 3Dlabs GLINT R3 rasterization engines with the GLINT Gamma=AE G2 second generation geometry processor on a single slot AGP card, Oxygen GVX210 uses a high-speed 256-bit memory bus, 64MB of on-board memory, 256MB of Virtual Textures and full OpenGL 1.2 geometry and lighting acceleration in hardware to boost the interactivity of the very largest models and scenes.

Oxygen GVX210 ships with 3Dlabs' new-generation Pentium III and AMD Athlon-optimized PowerThreads(tm) OpenGL drivers that dynamically distribute the geometry and lighting load between the on-board geometry processor and the host CPU for optimal system throughput. Oxygen GVX210 PowerThreads drivers also enable two screens to be combined into a single virtual desktop with a resolution up to a maximum resolution of 4096 x 1536. The multi-head capabilities of PowerThreads allows any 2D or 3D window to be placed at any position on any screen without interrupting 2D or 3D accelerated operation and also provide powerful utilities for controlling how applications and dialog boxes are positioned on the multi-screen desktop.

Oxygen GVX210 ships with drivers for Windows 98, Windows NT 4.0 and Windows 2000. The Windows 2000 drivers provide fully accelerated Direct3D as well as OpenGL. Windows NT 4.0 drivers with multi-monitor OpenGL capability are available immediately. The multi-head version of the Windows 2000 drivers are expected early in the second quarter of 2000. Benchmark Information According to 3Dlabs' measurements with vendors' latest generation hardware and drivers on a 733MHz Pentium III single-processor machine, the Oxygen GVX210 delivers outstanding 2D and 3D performance compared to other high-end boards. For example, on the SPECapc PRO/E2000i Shaded Composite benchmark the Oxygen GVX210 delivers a score of 6.3 - compared to 4.61 for the Intense 3D Wildcat 4110 Pro, 4.51 for the Elsa Gloria II and 5.31 for the Diamond Fire GL1. On the AutoCAD2000 c99 v2.1 3DOpenGL benchmark Oxygen GVX210 delivers a benchmark score of 41.03 - compared to 33.47 for the Intense 3D Wildcat 4110 Pro, 31.11 for the Elsa Gloria II and 36.51 for the Diamond Fire GL1.
